Shooting Fundamentals Course

Duration: 2 hours


This class will go further in-depth into the fundamentals of shooting.

The course includes:

  • Pre-range classroom training
  • One-on-one shooting instruction
  • Shooting basics: the importance of proper grip, sight alignment, breath control, position, trigger squeeze, and follow-through.
  • Handling of handgun: drawing from holster, aiming to target, placing back in holster.
  • Proper loading and unloading
  • Malfunction clearing
  • Detailed firearm cleaning instruction
  • Safe firearm storage discussion
  • Students will have the option of choosing to rent SC Pistol Safety's firearms and use our ammunition, or to bring their own firearms and ammunition.


  • Successful completion of NRA Basic Pistol Safety Class
  • Valid Connecticut Pistol Permit

  • Required Equipment

  • Functioning semi-automatic pistol*
  • Double-action revolver (6-Shot)*
  • Two magazines or speed-loaders*
  • Dominant-side concealed holster
  • Long pants with pockets and beltloops
  • Close-toed shoes (no sandals or flip-flops
  • No low-cut shirts
  • Wrap-around eyewear*
  • Earmuffs or earplugs*
  • Cleaning kit, cleaning mat*
  • Fee

    $150: Includes half hour classroom instruction, one hour of range training, half hour of cleaning and safe storage instruction, rental of firearms and 100 rounds of ammunition.

    Rental Firearms Include: .22 revolver/semi-automatic, 9mm semi-automatic, .357/.38spl revolver

    $110: Includes half hour classroom instruction, one hour of range training and a half hour of cleaning and safe storage instruction. You provide your own firearms and ammunition.
